0:00 Dear friends, assalamu alaikum.
0:04 Imagine that you have everything,
0:06 and then you lose it all.
0:09 Imagine the trials of a man who has a family and loses that family.
0:14 Imagine the trials of a man who has a home and wealth,
0:21 and loses it all in an instant.
0:24 Imagine a man who has health,
0:30 and that health deteriorates for years.
0:30 For a long time,
0:35 and he becomes extremely ill to the point that even his closest ones
0:37 That man or that person
0:39 does not lose his mind.
0:42 He does not abandon faith, but remains firm and steadfast.
0:48 This is not an introduction to a motivational
0:50 speech, but this is truly a Quranic narrative that remains until the Day of Judgment as an example for all of us.
0:59 This is the Quranic narrative about Ayyub (Job), peace be upon him.
1:03 About a man who was an example
1:06 of trials,
1:07 but at the same time an example of patience
1:11 and gratitude to the Exalted Allah, the Most High.
1:14 Who was Ayyub, peace be upon him, and what can we learn today
1:19 from his story for our daily
1:23 challenges.
1:24 We see people losing families,
1:26 losing lives, losing limbs, losing wealth,
1:32 etc.
1:34 So this is actually a time to remind ourselves
1:37 of what the Quran teaches us in the narration
1:42 about Ayyub, peace be upon him. Who was Ayyub, peace be upon him?
1:46 Ayyub, peace be upon him, was a respected man. A man who was extremely wealthy, who had both male and female children, a man who had immense wealth,
1:57 a huge herd
1:58 therefore,
1:59 a cow,
2:01 small livestock, etc.
2:03 One who has enormous crops,
2:05 vast land, who had great wealth, who had a beautiful wife,
2:14 who had a large family, who had many friends, who had a good reputation in society.
2:18 However, despite all of that, the Exalted Allah,
2:21 has made that man
2:25 an example of trial until the Day of Judgment. Indeed,
2:26 the first trial that was faced by Prophet Ayyub (AS).
2:30 In fact,
2:31 he became the subject of gossip.
2:34 People started to gossip about him, they began to speak against him,
2:41 attacking his honor,
2:45 the honor of his family, the honor of his work, and so on.
2:47 This was a great
2:49 trial for him.
2:58 The next trial he faced was the loss of his wealth. His wealth began to diminish,
3:00 due to massive floods,
3:02 natural disasters caused
3:03 that in fact his
3:05 fruits, the fruits on his vast
3:07 estates, to have dried up, to have simply
3:10 disappeared
3:13 After that, his livestock begins to die from
3:15 several diseases,
3:18 thus he loses his wealth, and after that he receives news,
3:20 so after the loss of his possessions
3:26 he was struck with the news while returning home that his house collapsed and all his children in that house had actually died.
3:36 So,
3:37 Job (A.S.)
3:39 went through all those trials and did not falter; he remained grateful.
3:45 He prays to Allah,
3:47 remembers Him, praises Him, and so on.
3:50 And he becomes an example; thus, the Lord of the worlds gives him an even greater trial.
3:59 This trial was in his health.
4:04 The trial was such that his body was afflicted by an unknown
4:09 illness that left his entire body in wounds.
4:14 And those wounds were such that they spread and were extremely
4:15 sorrow
4:16 From which people fled
4:18 for they were afraid of it
4:21 Everyone actually abandoned him,
4:23 the whole community, his family
4:26 abandoned him,
4:27 except for his wife.
4:29 So, the greatest support,
4:31 Ayyub (peace be upon him) had was his Rahma, his wife
4:34 who stayed by his side until the end.
4:37 moment.
4:40 It is narrated that Ayyub was in
4:43 such a state of illness
4:45 for 18
4:47 full years.
4:48 He was ill for 18 years.
4:51 His body was decaying, he was in pain, yet all that could be heard from him was gratitude to Allah, the Exalted.
4:58 Except for the praise of the Most High Allah, the Exalted.
5:01 So, only the best
5:04 befitting a sincere person.
5:06 to the thief
5:07 Many came
5:10 from the beginning,
5:10 trying to help him,
5:12 bringing him certain
5:14 medications,
5:15 and so on, but nothing yielded
5:18 results.
5:19 His wife built a small house outside the settlement,
5:24 thus outside society.
5:26 from the reeds
5:27 And there she actually placed him,
5:29 she would go every day, earning for them there at the faku and doing all that was dignified
5:36 to do. And after that, she would come and
5:40 assist the Prophet, peace be upon him, feed him, and so on.
5:44 The scholars say that in the last stage of his illness, he was so ill that he could not move his body at all.
5:53 The only thing he could move was his tongue, which was in remembrance of the Exalted Allah, the Most High.
5:59 So,
6:00 after 18 years of trials, after 18 years
6:03 of severe illness.
6:05 Allah, the Exalted, has allowed some people to find themselves here.
6:09 They began to speak and said, among other things,
6:14 Do you see Ayyub?
6:16 He said, he has certainly sinned against Allah, the Exalted.
6:19 Such a sin
6:20 that no one has ever committed, and look how Allah, the Exalted,
6:25 punishes him.
6:27 So Ayyub (peace be upon him),
6:29 when he heard this, he then said to the Exalted Allah,
6:33 a dua, which is actually a sign for us.
6:36 in what way actually Ayyub (peace be upon him)
6:40 He addresses
6:41 He says, O Lord,
6:43 I have been afflicted
6:48 with hardship,
6:49 and You are the Most Merciful.
6:50 He is shy to ask Allah, the Exalted,
6:52 to remove this illness from him. O Lord
6:54 of the worlds, for many years and countless blessings.
6:58 svjetova radi brojnih godina I brojnih blagodati
7:01 which he enjoyed
7:03 until then.
7:04 At that moment, Allah, the Exalted, had mercy on him.
7:09 Thus, He granted him health. By striking his foot on the ground
7:27 where he lay, Allah gave him strength. He managed to strike his foot,
7:31 and water appeared with which he washed himself. After that,
7:40 the Exalted Allah sent him, as stated in a narration,
7:44 clothes from Paradise to wear.
7:47 There are many other things mentioned in the hadiths. One of them is that Allah
7:53 made the accursed Shaytan constantly try to attack him,
7:54 in life,
7:55 Satan approached an old woman in the leaves,
7:58 and asked her to divert.
8:01 He suggested she prostrate to Iblis.
8:05 She refused, knowing he would never do it. After that, this
8:11 old man,
8:12 the so-called old man, was actually Iblis,
8:15 said to at least sacrifice a sheep, let his sacrifice be conveyed to Iblis,
8:21 and he will surely recover, but he should repent afterwards. He should repent to Allah, the Exalted, and return to being good as he was before.
8:31 To her, this seemed somewhat like an acceptable solution. So before the event of his miraculous healing mentioned in the Quran occurred,
8:42 Yes,
8:43 I told my wife, look, we have digested everything, only this remains.
8:50 I heard this from that person.
8:52 Eyub was
8:54 actually angry with her, he was upset and said to her, truly, if
9:00 I recover, I will strike you
9:02 with a hundred sticks and
9:04 he said, leave me too. When you all abandoned me, then you abandon me too, but I will not
9:06 leave worship.
9:12 ostaviti obožavanje
9:13 the One and Only
9:14 Allah, the Exalted
9:17 She left because he had effectively expelled her, and then this event occurred,
9:29 that these people spoke ill of him. After that, Allah, the Exalted,
9:30 answered his dua and granted him health.
9:37 Scholars mention,
9:39 that after a certain time, his wife came back to that place and said,
9:48 she could not recognize the man,
9:52 the husband she had lived with for so long, the husband she had watched for 18 years in bed, whom she had cared for, served, etc. She could not recognize him.
9:54 For he was in perfect health, dressed in garments of Paradise, etc.
9:55 Have you seen, do you know what happened to this sick person? Here lay a patient, what happened to him? Did they not take him away, did the wolves not eat him, did some evil not befall him?
10:06 And Ayus says,
10:07 I am Ayutu.
10:08 I am,
10:09 therefore, the one who was the patient.
10:12 Then Allah, the Exalted, commands him to take a hundred bundles,
10:17 that is, of grass,
10:18 or rather, of herbs.
10:19 And to gently strike his wife,
10:21 with it, as per Allah's command.
10:25 or to fulfill only the conclusion
10:28 in a symbolic way
10:30 flat.
10:31 So, after that, the Exalted Allah, may He be glorified, says that Allah
10:35 gave
10:36 double the children and double the wealth than he had.
10:40 This narration,
10:42 which has been narrated to us
10:43 speaks to all of us, actually conveying many messages. The first message is that we should not confuse Allah's punishment with Allah's test.
10:55 was tested, he was not punished by Allah beforehand.
10:59 Someone's illness,
11:00 someone's lack,
11:02 does not mean that Allah, the Exalted,
11:05 is punishing him or her; rather, it is a trial from Allah,
11:10 After that, we must be aware that our Lord tests us, and He will test us in various ways.
11:19 Whether it be loss of wealth,
11:23 whether it be loss of friends, whether it be loss
11:23 of life,
11:27 whether it be loss in any other way, such as health,
11:28 etc.
